AT&T is turning off their 2G GSM network on January 1, 2017, and in fact, the shutdown has already begun. AT&T stopped certifying new 2G GSM applications for deployment on its network, and no longer provisions new SIMs for existing, certified, 2G GSM devices and applications. 

Companies using AT&T's 2G GSM services must act now by carefully balancing their product lifecycles, device costs, and market deployment requirements to select the correct technology for their M2M application.
